Dear Tribe:
At the time I am writing this blog the energy of the Full Moon in Capricorn is passing. I thought I’d point that out since Full Moons and New Moons are very auspicious times for reflection. If we play close attention much can be revealed about certain themes that get played out in our external world or internally within ourselves, bringing it to our consciousness so that we can process it and make adjustments accordingly. It is also a time to either release what no longer serves your highest purpose or embark on new projects and goals. Each phase brings about a different energy depending on astrological variables. This Full Moon energy is calling for us to live out our true life’s purpose. Emotions may be running high? Take this time to shed some light on parts of yourself that you may have dismissed and need changing. Now to talk about a theme that has been resonating with me lately. About 3 weeks ago I adopted a new kitten. She was named Alexi. In my heart, from the moment I saw her, she is Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of prosperity, wealth, and generosity. My son, Luis and I had to compromise and so her name is Alexi but I call her Mimi. I am hands down a big animal lover! In fact, I envision myself doing a lot of wildlife conservation work in the not so distant future. My first cat, Baby Girl, who I’ve had for over 5 years has been my companion and my teacher. Mimi now has come to bear her lessons. Being her tiny rambunctious self and always close to my feet, I have nearly tripped several times. It is then that I began to realize that I must slow down and practice mindfulness. In my frenetic need to get to the next thing, I have forgotten some guiding principles in life. We must slow down in order to be present and in this moment. We must slow down in order to listen to our highest knowing, our intuition. Ekhart Tolle says in his book, The Power of Now, “Realize deeply that the present moment is all you have. … The more you are focused on time—past and future—the more you miss the Now, the most precious thing there is.” As someone that lives in a very shamanic way, we have animals who become our Spirit Guides but you don’t have to journey too far or to non ordinary realms in order to reap the benefits of an animal’s guidance or nature for that matter. Everything is alive and if you are present, you can hear it’s voice and its wisdom. We live in a world that that is willing to support our journey in this physical life.
Now I am slowing down and savoring life a little more. I’ve also returned to my regular practice of meditation. I am aligning with my purpose as a guide to others helping you find your answers to, “Who Am I and what is my true life’s purpose?”
